Jewel on the Bluff is a masterclass in modern coastal architecture, where sculpted forms meet the dramatic hillside of Delta, BC. Collaborating with Kemp Construction and Sarah Gallop Design Inc., our mandate was to create a technology ecosystem that matched the home’s high-performance design: sophisticated, invisible, and uncompromising.

The objective was to deliver a "zero-compromise" environment that remained exceptionally simple to navigate. While the home required an immersive multi-zone audio experience and a world-class private cinema, the client’s most vital requirement was a "guest-proof" interface. They wanted a home that anticipated their needs without requiring a manual.

The "Expert-First" Model

Moving away from the traditional "jack-of-all-trades" integration model, we curated a team of three of Western Canada’s premier specialty firms. By bringing in dedicated masters of craft for Private Cinema, High-Level Security, and System Automation, we ensured that every discipline was handled with expert precision.

As the design leads, we facilitated a strict Integrated Design Process (IDP). Every partner "understood the assignment," collaborating in lockstep with the builder and interior designers to ensure a seamless, unified result that supported the aesthetic vision of the project.

The "Best of Both Worlds" Audio Architecture

Drawing on our deep roots and professional history with Sonos, we designed an audio solution for Jewel on the Bluff that prioritizes both acoustic excellence and ease of use. We chose to power high-performance Bowers & Wilkins architectural speakers with the Sonos ecosystem.

• The Logic: This hybrid approach provides the best of both worlds—the legendary, studio-grade audio quality of B&W (trusted by Abbey Road Studios) paired with the intuitive, industry-leading interface of Sonos. It is a high-fidelity experience without the high-friction complexity often found in audiophile systems.
  

Rejecting the "Ugly" Interface

A core pillar of our design was the complete rejection of LCD touchscreens. We believe wall-mounted screens act as "visual noise" that ages poorly and adds unnecessary cost. Instead, we leveraged a refined Lutron ecosystem for tactile control. The result is a home that feels like a sanctuary, not a commercial data center.
